Home solar sizing calculator for Nigeria

Enter the units on your meter and get a system size and cost band in seconds. No signup needed.

    Your system size and cost

Your prepaid meter token shows units purchased in kWh. Monthly figure ÷ 30 gives your daily average.

How long the battery should carry your load with no sun and no grid.

    3.7 kW

    5 kWh

    Battery storage

    3.1 kW

    Hybrid inverter

    Indicative installed cost

    ₦2.2m – ₦2.9m

Hardware ₦2.2m + installation ₦389,160. Generates about 12 kWh on an average day.

These are planning estimates. System sizes use measured Nigerian irradiance and PureWatts engineering standards; costs use the supply-and-install rates installers configure in the platform. Engineered numbers, equipment selection and a bankable financial model come from the full analysis.

    How the calculation works

    1. 1. Daily energy. Monthly units ÷ 30 gives your average daily consumption in kWh.
    2. 2. Array size. Daily kWh ÷ (measured local yield in kWh per kW per day × 90% system efficiency) gives the kW of panels needed. The estimator reads that yield from PureWatts irradiance data for the city you select.
    3. 3. Battery. Average hourly draw × backup hours ÷ 80% usable depth gives the storage capacity.
    4. 4. Inverter. Sized on peak simultaneous draw, roughly 2.2× the average hourly figure, with a floor tied to the array size.
    5. 5. Cost. Component quantities × the supply-and-install rates installers configure in PureWatts, plus installation, with a ±15% band to reflect quote spread.

What this calculator does not do

It assumes a flat load through the day and uses a single yield figure for your city. It does not look at your roof, shading, load timing, grid availability at your address or your generator spend. Those four things routinely move the answer by 20% or more in either direction, which is why the full PureWatts analysis models your site hour by hour across a full year before recommending a system.
